How to Rename iPhone Photos in Bulk

Every iPhone photo is named IMG_XXXX. Every. Single. One. When you transfer 500 photos from a trip to your computer, good luck finding anything.

The Fast Way: DocSync

1. Transfer photos to your computer (AirDrop, USB, or iCloud)

2. Go to docsync.app

3. Drop all your photos in

4. Select "Date Prefix" naming (turns IMG_4392.jpg into 2026-02-20_img-4392.jpg)

5. Download the zip with all renamed photos

That's it. 500 photos renamed in under 30 seconds.

The Manual Way

On Mac, select all photos in Finder, right-click → Rename Items. You can add a prefix or use sequential naming. It works but it's limited.

The Pro Tip

Use DocSync's "Custom Prefix" option to add the trip or event name: paris-2026_img-4392.jpg. Now every photo is instantly searchable by location.

Stop naming files like a maniac.

Upload messy files. Download organized. Free.
